What is the difference between unregistered and registred version?

Unregistered version shows only 5 connections at time. There are no other limitations. 

My antivirus warns that wipsetup.exe is infected! 

You may get virus alert from certain antivirus software. Do not take it seriously since this is false positive based on so-called heuristic analysis, a highly ineffective  method that has been designed to detect unknown viruses. 

I minimized program's window. How can I restore it?  

Double click on Wandering IPs tray icon or right click on it and select 'Focus Window' from popup menu. 

Globe is rendered incorrectly (Earth texture is distorted).

Certain OpenGL implementations does not handle textures that big (2048x1024) correctly. Go to Wandering IPs folder , open "texture.jpg" (you can use Microsoft Paint) and resize it to 1024x512.

At startup, program reports several errors and then hangs.

Run regedit.exe, delete  "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wandering IPs" registry key and try again.

How accurate is your program?

At the moment it is as accurate as the MaxMind GeoLite City database is, which means that about 75% IP addresses that are correctly resolved within 25 miles of the actual city. 

No matter where I browse WIPs shows still the same location. Why?

Probably you are connected via proxy server. Are you using some kind of web accelerator like Google Web Accelerator? Or maybe you are using one of anonymous surfing services (e.g. JonDo)? If answer is YES, then WIPs is rather useless for you, although it will still show connections made by, for example, bittorrent clients.

Why I always get 'traceroute failed' when I click on remote locations?

There may be several reasons for that: 

    your ISP blocks ICPM packets

    your router blocks ICMP packets

    your firewall...well...blocks ICMP packets 

Windows Vista built-in firewall users - you'll have to create new inbound rule for ICMP protocol. The easiest way to do this is by executing 'netsh' command. At command prompt type:

netsh advfirewall firewall add rule name="Allow ICMP time exceeded" protocol=icmpv4:11,any dir=in action=allow

Important: You'll need administrator rights for traceroute to work.

Lines, points and text labels that indicate remote locations are blurred, I hardly see anything! 

From Wandering IPs version 1.1.9 up there is possibility to increase lines thickness and points size which may result in better readibility on certain systems. An example how forced antialiasing can affect lines and points rendering is here.

Labels are not shown...

Cause of this misbehaviour is currently unclear. If you encounter this problem please contact the author (thanks to Joerg Tewisse for reporting this one).

Title bar/resize corner  is beyond the screen so I can not resize/move Wandering IPs window! Help!

Download this , exit Wandering IPs (if running) and add  wips.reg to the registry. It resets window position to upper left corner of the screen and window size to 256x256 pixels.

Database download is very slow or even stops. 

Be patient. If  wizard can not proceed with  download it will switch to another server after a little timeout. You can also break and then resume downloading manually. 

On Windows Vista program's window occasionally turns black (no graphics).

I get "All servers are currently busy" message when attempting to download/update database.
